College of Culture and Creativity was established in September of 2008. Based on founding principles of Shih Chien University-Innovation、Practice、Excellence, the College aims at bringing creative thinking into full play, while sharing and embracing local culture.
Located in the south of Taiwan, the Campus is near Mei-Nong, Nei-Men, and Chi-Shan, an area with a fascinating cultural landscape, a diverse ethnic population, an abundance of agricultural products, and hot springs; all of which make the region rich in culture and history. Due to the richness in cultural resources, it is most appropriate for us to develop and expand the cultural & creative industries of the college.
The College presently includes seven departments of three fields:
Departments of Tourism Management, its purpose is to cultivate students’ professional intelligence in tourism fields, facilitating and promoting local diverse cultures, and enhancing students' international perspective; the department has also set up a series of practical training programs which are offered by hotels, travel agencies, government and tourism-related industries for students to experience.
Department of Recreation Management, its objective is cultivating professional managers of the highest quality in the areas of leisure activities, recreational sports and cultural heritages. The courses offered in the department aim to develop the students’ managerial abilities, provide them with professional skills and expertise, and prepare them for the high demands of the current job market in the leisure industries.
Department of Fashion Design & Merchandising, offers comprehensive courses in fashion merchandising management, fashion design, culture, and arts. Students can choose from two modules, fashion merchandising management and fashion design creation, to diversify and enrich their learning as well as to have more competitive advantages in the job market. Every graduate of the department is expected to be a capable fashion specialist.
Department of Fashion Styling & Design Communication, offers comprehensive courses in fashion styling, fashion design, culture, and arts. Students can choose from two modules, fashion styling creation and fashion media, to diversify and enrich their learning as well as to have more competitive advantages in the job market. Every graduate is expected to be a capable fashion specialist.
Department of Applied English, offers a combination of basic humanities and module courses to enable students to successfully adapt to the needs of the market or academic studies. Besides basic courses, which emphasize training and acquisition of language skills, the department provides modules, in Business/ Applied English, ELT/ Linguistics, and Culture/ Translation as its main orientation, module programs which enable students to obtain second skills other than English language skills.
Department of Applied Chinese, based on Chinese traditional learning, aims at internationalization, combining business, design, information and other fields’ professional skills. The department’s purpose is to embrace the best in traditional Chinese learning, cultivating talent both in Chinese literary creation and applied Chinese culture.
Department of Applied Japanese, aims to provide graduates with solid competence in Japanese language, communication skills applied practically for business and tourism industries. It also encourages students to develop competence in English and other languages. All of its faculty and staff members are multi-lingual in two or more languages, including Japanese, Chinese, English and Korean.
